The Maine Highlands Sled Dog Club (TMHSDC) http://www.critterwoods.com/ Brownville-KI and Beyond 30 Mile Sled Dog Race Saturday January 29, 2011 A. Race Course: The race start will be on Railroad Avenue, Brownville, Maine. There will be one road crossing which traverses a little-used dirt road. Trails will be groomed (a minimum of 8 feet wide) by the Brownville Snowmobile Club. The 30-mile race trail is a scenic out and back course that traverses varied terrain. The first and last nine miles are on the historic Katahdin Iron Works (KI) railroad bed. The remainder of course will take you from KI to the Gulf Hagas parking lot where you will loop around the parking lot and return to Brownville. B.

To compliment the holiday festivities in downtown Dover area, Dover Main Street is kicking off what they hope will become an annual Holiday decorating contest. Get into the holiday spirit and decorate your business with white lights, ornaments, and other décor! This new and exciting event is open to all businesses within the downtown area so get out your thinking caps and organize your creative teams!
 
Winners will be awarded for the best, "Inside or In Office decorations" and "Window or Exterior building Decorations". Judging this year will be on Saturday, December 18th as Santa and a group of his elves take to the streets.

Proceeds from the raffle, being conducted by another non profit organization will benefit the Katahdin Area Council Centennial efforts!
Details are as follows:
•16 foot red, new Old Town Discovery Canoe with two paddles.
•Tickets are $10 each, 6 tickets for $50.
•Drawing will be held on Wednesday December 15th, 2010.
•If your Scout unit would like to participate and benefit, for every 10 tickets you sell, the unit will receive proceeds from two tickets ($20).
Example: 10 tickets sold = $100. You only turn in $80 and keep $20 to support your unit operations. All tickets, sold or unsold must be turned into the council office by noon time on December 15th 2010.  Please call 866-2241 for details.

Free Christmas Event to make Giant Non-perishable Food Donation

Hundreds expected to attend free Christmas celebration at Abromson Center on December 23, 2010
Using hundreds of volunteers, Next Level Church is hosting a life-changing Christmas celebration at
the Abromson Center on the campus of the University of Southern Maine in Portland on Thursday,
December 23, 2010. The event is completely free although Next Level Church is asking attendees
to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the Wayside Food Rescue Program. The church hopes
to make the largest single donation by a church in Wayside’s history as a result of this event. At the
event, Next Level Church is also oering free family photos with Santa, live, professional Christmas music,
a special kids experiences, and a variety of Christmas gifts and surprises for those in attendance. Those
who want to attend can get their free tickets by visiting www.nlc.tv/christmas.

Event Description Rochester Follies: SHOW OF SHOWS Prepare for non-stop holiday entertainment as the Frisbie Follies meets the Rochester Show of Shows to become a new brand of skits, dance, song and merriment. Community members show off their hidden talents and put their best feet forward for this fabulous fundraiser to benefit the Rochester Opera House. Both the Frisbie Follies and the Show of Shows were wildly popular in the area during the 60s and 70s. We are very excited to bring back this genre of fantastic fun!
