Celebration of Remembrance canceled 11/2/14

Due to the weather, Pine Tree Hospice and Community Health and Counseling Services will be canceling its Celebration of Remembrance slated for this afternoon at the Charlotte White Center in Dover-Foxcroft.  We apologize for the inconvenience but want everyone to stay safe in the storm.

Fort Kent Civil Rights Club Promotes Mix It Up at Lunch Day

Students at Valley Rivers Middle School on October 28, 2014 joined more than one

million other students across the country to help break down social and racial barriers by

participating in the 12th annual Mix It Up at Lunch Day.

“It was great to learn about different countries and cultures by talking to the students at the

University of Maine at Fort Kent. He, Kyle Robyn, was really down to earth and explained how

even though they (Scotland) do things a bit differently, such as eating Kippers (cold, smoked

herring), or call a line a queue, we are the same as well. Both countries speak English and both

play soccer, for example” stated Tobi, just one of the enthralled students in attendance.

Hospice is a Work of Heart

“Hospice is a Work of Heart” will be the theme for Pine Tree Hospice’s 2014 Annual Meeting and Dinner

Pine Tree Hospice will hold its Annual Meeting and Dinner on Thursday, November 13th from 6-8 P.M. at the East Sangerville Grange.   The theme, “Hospice is a Work of Heart” reflects the idea that Pine Tree Hospice volunteers offer their many services with heartfelt compassion and caring.

The evening will begin with a delicious dinner prepared by local caterer, Billi Barker of Enchanted Kitchen of Firefly Farm.  The annual business meeting will follow as well as a program of music performed by Deb Fournier.  Those interested in attending may make reservations by calling the Pine Tree Hospice office at 564-4346 or by e-mail at

Remembrance Ceremony Honors the “Tree of Life”

   On Sunday, November 2, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. there will be a community celebration of remembrance sponsored by Community Health and Counseling and Pine Tree Hospice at the Charlotte White Center, 572 Bangor Road in Dover-Foxcroft.   The theme for this year’s celebration is “The Tree of Life” which symbolizes the interconnectedness of all life as well as the seasons of life that we all must pass through.   Meaningful activities for all ages are planned culminating in a poignant balloon release.  Music will also be a part of the day’s program and refreshments will be provided.  All community members and families are welcome to come and celebrate the memory of friends and loved ones.  To pre-register, please call Pine Tree Hospice at 564-4346 or email
