Google visits Maine to teach educators

LEWISTON, MAINE (NEWS CENTER) -- Google is offering teachers the chance to use some of its technology -- for free. Some educators got a lesson in how to use these new tools at a summit in Lewiston.

The education team from Google hopes to see the standard book reports evolve into something more modern. Former Maine Governor Angus King says "we've got to start doing education differently because what we're doing now isn't working and yet education is the crucial element of the 21st century."

CWC Angels Donates to Food Cupboards

CWC Angels Donates to Food Cupboards

The end of summer brings another tradition with it!  The CWC Angels School Store!  This summer, over 230 children were served with this school supply and clothing distribution program.  Everything from backpacks to socks and glue sticks to binders.  Through donations year round, the school store is stocked with brand new items to help all kids feel ready for the first day of school.

The shoppers do have some responsibility placed on them too!  In order to earn "CWC bucks", the kids are encouraged to do extra chores, help others and get caught "doing good".  An extra $1 is earned just by bringing in a non-perishable food item.  This year about 200 food items were donated.  The Partnership Food Pantry and Hampden Food Cupboard were the recipients of this years donations.

Thanks to all who helped at the School Store!
